COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY

Schnader has set as one of our fundamental priorities the recruitment, retention and promotion of attorneys of diverse backgrounds. This priority is reflected in the prominence of diversity practices and concerns in our Firm culture and strategic planning efforts. We place this emphasis on diversity not just because of our core belief that it is the right thing to do, but also because a diverse work force is absolutely essential to our continued ability to provide the highest quality of legal services to our clients into the 21st century.

Schnader is a founder of, and an active participant in the Philadelphia Minority Job Fair. We also are one of the original signators of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Statement of Goals for Increasing Minority Representation and Retention. In addition, Schnader is a founding member of the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group, a city-wide organization that focuses on minority recruitment and retention. Schnader is an equal opportunity employer; it is our policy that equal employment opportunity be provided to all employees and applicants without regard to age, race, color, sex, religion, disability, sexual orientation or veteran status.

We also have created a Firm-wide Diversity Committee, chaired by senior partner from our Philadelphia office, Albert S. Dandridge, III, to continually assess the diversity-related practices, culture, history, and programs of the firm in our nationwide network of offices.

Particularly noteworthy are the leadership roles held by women in the management of Schnader. Diana Donaldson is the Managing Partner of the Firm. Nancy Winkelman is chair of our firm-wide Recruiting Committee and co-chair of the Firm's Appellate Practice Group. In addition, Diana and Nancy are co-chairs of our firm-wide Pro-Bono Committee. Nicole Reimann is the Chair of our Associate Professional Development Committee. A number of substantive practice groups are also chaired by woman partners.

In addition, a number of our women attorneys have been recognized for their professional achievements. A partner in the Philadelphia Office, Elizabeth Ainslie, was recently recognized in a special supplement, "Women of Influence," published by the American Lawyer Media. Liz, who also serves as co-chair of our Plaintiff Contingent Fee Practice Group, was also recently inducted into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. In 2001 Liz was named one of Americas top 50 Women Litigators by the National Law Journal.

While we at Schnader are proud of our history of commitment to diversity issues, we are not content to rest on our past record. We are committed to being a law firm in which people of diverse backgrounds want to work, a place where they can thrive professionally and become a part of a multi-faceted team to serve the needs of our diverse clients in the global marketplace.
