Nancy Winkelman Recognized by Benchmark Litigation as One of the Top 250 Women in Litigation

Nancy Winkelman has been recognized by Benchmark Litigation as one of the "Top 250 Women in Litigation" for 2012. For the inaugural edition, the female litigators featured were selected throughout the country and from their respective states' roster of local litigation stars in the 2012 edition of peer-reviewed parent publication Benchmark Litigation. The publication notes that Ms. Winkelman's peers have lauded her as being "a terrific writer, very persuasive." A client said of her practice, "She and her colleagues produced tremendous results for us based not only on her appellate experience, but also as a direct result of her receptiveness to ideas and input."

Ms. Winkelman, co-chair of the Firm's Litigation Services Department, has concentrated her practice in federal and state appellate litigation for over 20 years, and has handled cases in a variety of substantive areas before numerous appellate courts, including presenting argument before the Supreme Court of the United States. In addition to briefing and arguing appeals, she regularly is engaged to serve as appellate counsel at pre-trial or trial states of litigation.

In 2004, Ms. Winkelman was selected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, becoming the ninth lawyer and the first woman to be selected as a Fellow from the Third Circuit, and currently serves as a Director of the Academy. She is the co-founder and first President of the Third Circuit Bar Association. Ms. Winkelman is also an adjunct professor teaching appellate advocacy at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She has been recognized by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for appellate law and named one of the top 50 female attorneys in Pennsylvania; listed in The Best Lawyers in America for appellate law; and rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell.
