August 31, 2009 – Philadelphia, PA: Elizabeth K. Ainslie, co-chair of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP’s Government Investigations, Corporate Compliance and Criminal Defense Group, has been selected to serve as the Distinguished Practitioner in Residence at Cornell Law School for the Fall 2009 semester (August 2009 – December 2009). Ms. Ainslie will be teaching a course titled “Special Problems in Trial Practice.” She will be splitting her time between Ithaca, New York and Schnader’s Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office.
Named one of "America's Top 50 Women Litigators" by the National Law Journal, Ms. Ainslie has tried more than 75 cases to verdict and conducted innumerable evidentiary hearings, sentencings, oral arguments and arbitrations. From 1979 to 1984, Ms. Ainslie was a federal prosecutor for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, serving as the chief of the Fraud Section during 1983 to 1984. After leaving the U.S. Attorney's office, Ms. Ainslie worked for 15 years at a law firm she founded.
Routinely recognized as a leader in the profession, Ms. Ainslie has been included annually in The Best Lawyers in America from 2006 through 2009, and has been recognized by the publishers of Super Lawyers as one of the top lawyers – male and female – in Pennsylvania. She is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and currently serves as the Pennsylvania chair for the college. She has previously served as chair of its Federal Criminal Rules Committee. Ms. Ainslie is also a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and a former member of the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
In addition to her upcoming role as the Distinguished Practitioner in Residence at Cornell, Ms. Ainslie has taught trial practice courses at Harvard Law School, the Attorney General's Advocacy Institute, the Academy for Advocacy, and Temple University's James E. Beasley School of Law. She graduated from Smith College, magna cum laude, and from Harvard Law School.
