"Billables"

Associates are expected to work a minimum of 1950 billable hours each year and 2400 total hours.

For our first year associates, billable hour requirements are reduced because of the significant amount of time devoted during the first year to training and transition requirements.

Schnader is unique in giving associates full credit toward his or her minimum work expectations up to ten percent of actual hours billed each year for matters devoted to pro bono. Associates also are encouraged to participate in a variety of professional activities that contribute to making well-rounded lawyers.

Schnader's time accounting system allows lawyers to track time spent on billable activities, as well as on "non-billable" activities such as bar association activities, client development, community service, participation in Firm committees, continuing legal education and training activities. If time is meticulously recorded, it is not difficult to reach the stated goals.
