Bond Finance

Schnader’s bond finance practice is extensive and varied. Members of the group are prepared to serve as bond counsel, as well as counsel to underwriters, issuers, credit enhancement providers and trustees. We also can serve as counsel to underlying borrowers in connection with all types of tax-exempt financings or the refunding of tax-exempt transactions, including governmental general obligation and revenue bonds and private activity bonds, as well as related credit, liquidity, derivative and investment agreements. Specialized practice areas include airport, project finance, health care and higher education and solid waste financings. Schnader has several attorneys listed in The Bond Buyer's Municipal Marketplace ("The Red Book"). Our Bond Finance Group can draw as needed on the additional experience of other lawyers in the Firm’s Public and Private Partnership, Financial Services, Securities, Tax and Health Law practice groups. Schnader enjoys an excellent reputation with both regional and national investment banking firms. In the past three years, Schnader has participated in public finance transactions with a volume of more than $1 billion.

As a result of the Firm’s ongoing involvement in public finance, our attorneys are thoroughly conversant with applicable state law as well as with the provisions of the Internal Revenue Code that relate to tax-exempt indebtedness, including, but not limited to, spending requirements, rebate issues and arbitrage issues. The Firm has substantial experience in the area of derivative products such as interest rate swap agreements and other similar types of transactions. In addition, Firm attorneys serve in governmental positions such as solicitors, members of commissions and authority boards, and other roles that support public finance.
