Barry Bressler Comments as Part of a CBS Evening News Story on the GM Bankruptcy Case
On June 30, 2009 by Schnader in NewsBarry Bressler, a partner in the Firm’s Philadelphia office, was interviewed for a report that aired on The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric on June 30. Mr. Bressler discussed the General Motors bankruptcy case. Taking a page from Chrysler, GM and the government are trying to shed hundreds of product liability cases that have led to injuries and deaths, which means that the new GM will not be responsible for any claims filed before the June 1 bankruptcy. For now, claimants are being treated the same way as everyone else owed money by GM. Any funds left after bankruptcy will be divided among them. “They’ve been hurt and if their day in court is taken away from them and the right to recover any medical expenses, lost wages or pain and suffering is taken away from them, they’ll be hurt again,” said Mr. Bressler.
