Bressler Quoted on Synagogue Embezzling Case

On August 25, 2005 by Schnader in News

On Aug. 25, 2005, Barry Bressler was quoted in the Jewish Exponent article “Judge Quashes Hope for Embezzler’s Reprieve.” The article discusses Betty Shusterman, 74, who defrauded Temple Sinai of Dresher, the Montgomery County synagogue where she worked as a bookkeeper for more than 30 years. Shusterman, who was trying to get a reprieve from her sentence, was denied.  The judge stated, “We can’t give free tickets to anyone.” Barry said, “We do sympathize and feel for the Shusterman family, but I don’t know if it overrides other concerns.” Aside from the financial loss, the synagogue now finds it harder to raise funds from the congregation.
