Al Dandridge Quoted in: “Rekindled Email Scandal Tests State Supreme Court Again”
On October 6, 2015 by Schnader in AppellateSchnader Appellate Practice Group Chair Carl A. Solano and Chief Diversity Officer Albert S. Dandridge III, both partners at the firm, recently offered comment in The Legal Intelligencer‘s October 6 article “Rekindled Email Scandal Tests State Supreme Court, Again.”
The newspaper reported that allegations of involvement in offensive emails against Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice J. Michael Eakin have rekindled controversy surrounding the court after Attorney General of Pennsylvania Kathleen Kane claimed Oct. 1 that she found 1,500 emails sent or received by Justice Eakin that contained sexist or racist material.
Mr. Dandridge, speaking as Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor, said it is difficult to say what effect, if any, the most recent development will have on the court, or if recusals may be likely in some cases involving the Attorney General’s Office. He also noted that future effects are also too early to tell because the facts keep changing.
Mr. Solano remarked that the court is handling the matter in the proper way and he does not foresee any changes at the court for now. With respect to the upcoming election to fill three vacant seats on the high court, he noted that several candidates have touted their integrity as a reason why they should be elected to the bench.
