Denny Shupe Particpates in Discussion to Benefit Veterans

On February 15, 2017 by Schnader in Litigation

Schnader partner Denny Shupe recently was an invited participant in an inaugural group discussion featuring area business leaders, veteran business owners, and transitioning military personnel to discuss how to translate diverse military training and experiences into exceptional business results.

The discussion was hosted by Gap International in Springfield, PA, and was led by retired Army and highly decorated war veteran Captain Larry Liss, retired USMC Lieutenant Colonel Henry Fischer, and Andy Hooper, a former Marine Officer and Vice President at Gap International. These three individuals lead Gap International’s Veterans Business Services, which was created to assist veterans in translating their military experiences and training to business settings.

As a retired Air Force command pilot and officer, law firm and non-profit organization leader, and long-time advocate for veteran and military family causes, Mr. Shupe offered unique insight into how veterans can bring military management and leadership experiences to today’s business and corporate environments. During the discussion, participants discussed ways to identify obstacles that prohibit exceptional performance in the work place and to uncover the thinking that drives innovation.

Mr. Shupe, a past Chairman of the national USO Affiliate Council, past Chairman of the Board of the USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, and a former Board Member for the Battleship New Jersey, continues to be very active in the Philadelphia region on behalf of veterans and veterans’ causes. Mr. Shupe’s pro bono focus is in support of a variety of military veteran causes, including representation of veterans before the Veterans Administration. He is Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Military Affairs Committee, and Vice Chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers’ Committee for Special Problems in the Administration of Justice (US), which is involved in addressing legal obstacles to prompt resolution of veteran benefit claims made to the Veterans Administration. The Philadelphia Business Journal presented him with one of its inaugural Veterans of Influence Awards in 2015.
