In the Austin Business Journal‘s March 15, 2013 article “Startup Shares Experience with Crowdfunding Sites,” Schnader partner Elliot Dater warned investors about the reality of expecting significant returns on their investments. Mr. Dater has written extensively on crowdfunding and the effects 2012’s CROWDFUND Act may have on both investors and entrepreneurs. “The market will determine if [crowdfunding] survives,” Dater said, “and whether it will have the effect everyone hopes it will,” said Mr. Dater.
