Mergers & Acquisitions and Energy & Environmental Practice Group Co-Chair Megan Harmon was quoted in the article “ETE-Williams Merger Flop A Blueprint For Energy Deal Exits,” published by Law360 on July 1, 2016. The article discussed Energy Transfer Equity LP’s decision to walk away from a $38 billion merger with The Williams Cos. Inc. after ETE’s counsel could not provide a crucial tax opinion. Ms. Harmon noted that the volatility in the energy market (caused by slumping oil prices) will make potential merger partners more cautious of such closing conditions in the future.
