In Memoriam – Cynthia Fischer
On January 18, 2018 by Schnader in NewsIt is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our good friend and colleague, Cynthia Fischer, who passed away on January 17, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was highly respected and loved by clients and her peers. All who crossed paths with Cynthia knew her to be a wise, gentle and caring person, who lived by her convictions.
Cynthia joined Schnader in our New York office in 2005, as a partner in the Business Services Department. She co-chaired the Nonprofit Organizations Practice Group and was a leader in the International, Corporate, Emerging Companies, and Higher Education practice groups, as well as a mentor to many women in the Firm. Cynthia served as the general corporate counsel and business advisor to foreign-owned companies and individuals doing business in the United States, as well as to United States-based companies and individuals. She had broad experience serving as counsel to clients ranging from manufacturers and distributors of medical devices, to home appliances and food products, international architecture and engineering firms, domestic and multinational design professional firms, family owned companies transitioning from one generation to the next, and nonprofit charitable organizations in the arts, trade associations, and private foundations.
Cynthia was a leader in the International Bar Association and an officer on IBA’s International Sales Committee. She was a strong supporter of the arts, serving on the Executive Advisory Council of Buglisi Dance Theatre and the Advisory Council of the Dancers Resource Program at The Actors Fund.
Cynthia was a person of great integrity, a friend to many, and will truly be missed.
