Ira Richards Elected to Schnader’s Executive Committee; Megan Harmon and Edward Sholinsky Re-Elected

Ira N. Richards was recently elected by the partners of Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP to the Firm’s governing body, the Executive Committee, and Megan E. Harmon and Edward J. Sholinsky were re-elected to continue their service on the Executive Committee.

Mr. Richards is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation Services Department, chair of the Class Action and Government Regulatory Affairs Practice Groups, and of the Political Action Committee. He also serves on the Firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Mr. Richards practices nationally representing clients in complex litigation matters. He has decades of experience in litigating multiparty actions for businesses and government agencies for both plaintiffs and defendants. His class action experience spans a variety of substantive areas, including antitrust, securities, and consumer actions. He also represents clients in matters involving obligations under leases for gas in the Marcellus Shale region, corporate governance disputes, and partnership and shareholder disputes. In addition, Mr. Richards represents government agencies in matters involving state and federal laws. As an appellate attorney, Mr. Richards has argued cutting edge issues in federal and state appellate courts.

Ms. Harmon, who was re-elected to the Executive Committee, is a partner in the Business Services Department, and co-chair of both the Environmental Services, Energy, and Sustainability Practice Group, and the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group. As a corporate attorney, she provides advice to businesses on matters such as strategic alliances, business combinations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, dispositions, exit planning, project development, compliance, employment, financing, and public-private partnerships. Ms. Harmon represents family businesses, start-ups, and both publicly and privately held entities. Her clients are typically in heavily regulated industries, where permitting, compliance, and environmental issues are critical. She has represented venture capital funds, angel investors, private equity, and strategic buyers in various investments, loans, and capital contributions. Ms. Harmon joined Schnader after serving as deputy general counsel for an environmental services company, where she was responsible for operations, mergers, acquisitions, integration, and divestitures, as well as oversight of outside counsel.

Mr. Sholinsky, who also was re-elected to the Executive Committee, is a partner in the Litigation Services Department, chair of the Firm’s Hiring Committee, and a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. He has significant experience across multiple industries and often represents retail and web-based companies in business and consumer disputes at the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Sholinsky has litigated numerous cases on behalf of regional and national banks, retailers, and nonprofit organizations. He has also represented a number of businesses in employment matters, alleging violations of federal and state discrimination laws. In addition, he represents railroads at the trial and appellate levels in real estate and bodily injury cases, including disputes over personal jurisdiction. Before entering legal practice, Mr. Sholinsky worked as a newspaper reporter and in public relations.
