January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day
On January 27, 2023 by Schnader in NewsOn January 27, we commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day, designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2005 to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Schnader honors and remembers the legacy of the millions who perished and those who lived to teach the horrors of man’s inhumanity to the world. https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/international-holocaust-remembrance-day
At Schnader, we remember not only the victims of the Holocaust who perished, but also those who survived. The survivors who remained in concentration camps, even after liberation, were the subject of a 1945 report to President Truman prepared by Schnader founding partner Earl Harrison. The Harrison Report emphasized the obligation of the liberators to promptly and humanely address the needs of the survivor victims.
