Lundy Quoted in “Visit Philadelphia could have recovered embezzled funds with insurance”

On April 4, 2016 by Schnader in News

After tourism agency Visit Philadelphia quietly settled a $200,000 embezzlement matter, the organization has faced criticism for its failure to prosecute, choosing instead to settle for a repayment from the alleged embezzler. The agency believed that had it gone to the police, the potential defendant would have spent her money on legal fees, leaving her with few funds to reimburse the organization. As it turns out, the agency did, in fact, have another option, which would have been to collect the insurance. Counsel Joseph Lundy is quoted on the challenges nonprofits face in such situations in The Philadelphia Inquirer article “Visit Philadelphia could have recovered embezzled funds with insurance.”
