Melissa Hill Honored for her Work with the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission Diaspora Project
On August 14, 2009 by Schnader in NewsMelissa Hill, an associate in the Philadelphia office, received a certificate of appreciation from the Advocates for Human Rights for her work with the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission Diaspora Project. The Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) is the body charged by the Liberian government with determining the facts of the human rights violations that occurred during the country’s civil war. The Diaspora Project, which began in 2006, was an ambitious effort to take statements from the Liberian community in 12 cities across the U.S., U.K. and Ghana, West Africa and document human rights abuses that occurred during the country’s 23-year civil war.
