Nadine Doolittle, chair of the Tax and Wealth Management Department, and Michael S. Williams, Associate, issued an alert – The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act: Impact and Planning – that was cited in a December 26 article in the San Francisco Business Times, “Accountants, lawyers fielding clients’ key question on tax overhaul, ‘What does it mean for me?’“.

The San Francisco Business Times wrote “‘It now seems unlikely that a political climate more favorable to estate tax repeal will exist in the foreseeable future,’ the law firm Schnader said in a note to clients Tuesday. ‘High net worth individuals should continue to plan for the estate tax and everyone should be prepared for the possibility of a future Congress pushing to cut back the expanded exemption amounts.’ Schnader . . . also predicted that some business owners will reassess the entity structure of their companies to take advantage of the newly reduced corporate tax rate.”
