Relocating the Barnes Raises Challenges

On January 15, 2005 by Schnader in Appellate

Schnader Chairman Ralph G. Wellington said he was “confident that the judge’s ruling, which amended Barnes’s written instructions that nothing in the collection be moved after his death, would stand,” according to The New York Times article, “Relocating the Barnes Raises Financial and Other Challenges.”

A Barnes Foundation art student, Jay Raymond, is now fighting Judge Stanley Ott’s ruling allowing the Barnes Foundation to move its museum from Lower Merion Township to Philadelphia. The article notes that the student’s attorney has already filed an appeal of the order.
