Schnader Begins Publishing The Pittsburgh-Israel Business Report Blog
On July 29, 2013 by Schnader in CorporatePHILADELPHIA – Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP now is publishing The Pittsburgh-Israel Business Report (http://schnaderpittisrael.com), a blog dedicated to the burgeoning business relationships between the two regions.
Leading the blog is Schnader attorney, Elliot Dater, partner in the firm’s Business Services Department. He represents Israeli companies doing business in the United States and U.S. companies and investors doing business in Israel, as well as emerging growth companies in the technology and medical device industries. He has been working in the Israeli market for 24 years, lived in Israel for 7 years and has lived in Pittsburgh for the past 11 years.
Mr. Dater created The Pittsburgh-Israel Business Report blog to raise awareness of the business ecosystem in both communities and to create a space where entrepreneurs can “meet,” exchange ideas and plant the seeds of future collaboration. “We wanted to increase awareness among Israeli companies and investors of the advantages and opportunities that the Pittsburgh business ecosystem has to offer as a base for doing business in the United States. Pittsburgh combines the talented people available from world class academic research institutions, a nationally recognized health care institution in UPMC, a significantly lower cost structure than either Coast and a homegrown entrepreneurial and investor base forged through the transition from manufacturing to technology and services over the last 30 years.”
Yaron Sideman, the Israeli Consul General for the Mid-Atlantic Region, seconded Mr. Dater’s enthusiasm for the Pittsburgh – Israel connection, “Israeli companies have cutting edge, world leading technologies and are often looking for the right place in the United States to locate their American operations or to find their U.S. partners. Pittsburgh offers an ideal opportunity for those Israeli companies and initiatives such as The Pittsburgh-Israel Business Report blog will help broaden and strengthen the business ties between Israel and Pittsburgh.”
“We want to generate interest and collaboration between the two communities,” said Mr. Dater. “We want to make people in Pittsburgh aware of the cutting edge developments coming out of Israel in software, IT, medical devices, health care IT and life sciences and connect them to institutions like the Weizmann Institute, The Technion, and companies that have been supported by Israel’s Office of the Chief Scientist. We want to make people in Israel aware of the technologies being developed by companies in Pittsburgh, including companies that are supported by entities like the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, Innovation Works, Idea Foundry, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and many others.”
“If you throw in the advantages of a big city with a small town feel, a vibrant and thriving Jewish community and a diverse, national quality cultural scene, Pittsburgh has a lot to offer to Israeli companies looking to create a base of operations or found a strategic partnership in the United States,” said Mr. Dater.
