On January 14, 2015 by Schnader in Litigation

Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP is saddened to announce the passing of partner Catherine M. McGrath on January 13, 2015. Catherine was a wonderful colleague, mentor, advisor and friend. Her wit, wisdom, kindness, courage, determination, dedication and generosity were an inspiration to many of Schnader’s attorney and staff.

“Catherine was special and will be missed,” said New York Office Managing Partner Christine Carty. “She was a brilliant and tough litigator who always took the time to mentor and teach her team. She was a demanding professional in the service of clients who unfailingly supported her partners, the associates and staff. She made sure to celebrate life’s joys with her colleagues and large extended family, and did not dwell on its wounds. She squeezed every good moment from life.”

Ms. McGrath joined Schnader in 2011 as a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department. Prior to joining Schnader, Ms. McGrath was a partner at two leading national firms, where her practice focused on business and technology litigation. She litigated complex commercial matters including business, technology, intellectual property, health care, real estate, financial services, shareholders disputes and trusts and estates matters.

Ms. McGrath was a member of the board of directors of the Brooklyn Law School Alumni Association and a member of the Brooklyn Law School President’s Advisory Committee. She was also a member of the Women Presidents’ Organization, a global nonprofit organization that seeks to improve business conditions for women entrepreneurs and to promote the acceptance and advancement of women entrepreneurs in all industries. She received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1984 and her B.A. from Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York in 1981.
