Philadelphia, PA, January 4, 2023 –– Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP is pleased to announce that four associates have been elected to partnership, which became effective January 1, 2023. The Firm’s new partners are Samantha Banks, Raymond J. Hunter, Lee C. Schmeer, and Brittany C. Wakim.
Samantha Banks is a member of the firm’s Litigation Services Department, and a member of the Labor and Employment Class Action and Internal Investigations, Ethics, and Compliance practice groups. She has litigated a broad range of cases in state and federal courts, including employment discrimination claims, wage claims, breach of contract claims, and complex commercial litigation matters. Her practice also includes counseling and advising employers in addressing issues that arise in the workplace, including negotiating employment agreements and non-compete agreements, and conducting internal investigations for corporate clients, nonprofit organizations, and private and public schools and universities. She previously served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Thomas J. Rueter in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and a legal intern at the Support Center for Child Advocates and the Pennsylvania Innocence Project. Ms. Banks serves as co-chair of the firm’s Associates Committee. Ms. Banks graduated from Lehigh University in 2011 with a B.S. in Business and Economics and received her J.D. in 2014 from Villanova University School of Law.
Raymond J. Hunter is a member of the firm’s Litigation Services Department, the Railroad Practice Group, and the Insurance Services Group. He regularly represents commercial property owners and lessees, from retail establishments to heavy industry such as railroads, in casualty and contract litigation. He also represents clients in the automotive and trucking industries in product liability litigation. He is a member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel; the Keystone State Railroad Association; American Short Line & Regional Rail Association; and Delaware County United, a CeaseFirePA Chapter organization. He was recently awarded the 2022 Earl G. Harrison Pro Bono Award. He graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1998 cum laude with a B.S. in Speech Communications, and received a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 2001.
Lee C. Schmeer is a member of the firm’s Litigation Services Department. His practice is focused on aviation and product liability matters. He is a pilot with extensive worldwide flight experience, having flown 90 combat missions in the United States Air Force. Mr. Schmeer serves as an Air Force Reserve Instructor Pilot on the C-17 Globemaster III. While in law school, he interned for The Honorable Robert B. Kugler in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and at the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region III Office of Regional Counsel. He served asa summer associate at Schnader in 2013, currently serves as vice-chair of the Defense Research Institute’s Aviation Law publications section, and is the co-editor of the firm’s widely circulated Aviation Newsletter. Mr. Schmeer received a B.A. with honors from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2004 and his J.D. from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, cum laude, in 2014.
Brittany C. Wakim is a member of the firm’s Litigation Services Department and a member of the Firm’s Diversity and Inclusion, Women LEAD, and Technology Committees. Ms. Wakim focuses on the defense of aviation matters, product liability cases, and eminent domain matters. Her practice also includes serving as a Title IX Decision Maker for Formal Complaints, and representing a variety of clients in class action, land use, commercial, and financial service matters. She also has significant experience with professional liability, medical device litigation, and medical malpractice litigation. Ms. Wakim serves as co-editor of the Aviation Newsletter, a member of the Firm’s summer associates’ committee where she serves as head of events and planning for the summer program, and on the Diversity and Inclusion subcommittees for recruitment and retention. She previously served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Theresa Sarmina in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas as well as an adjunct faculty member at Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where she taught an upper level writing course and served as a trial team coach and volunteer with the Trial Advocacy program. She was recently awarded the 2022 Earl G. Harrison Community Service Award. She graduated from Boston University in 2011, earning a B.A. in Economics, with distinction, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She then earned her J.D. from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, cum laude, in 2014, where she was a member of the Trial Team.
