Schnader Participates in City Bar Justice Center’s Varick Removal Defense ProjectOn March 2, 2012 by Schnader in Litigation
Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP is proud to be an active participant in the City Bar Justice Center’s Varick Removal Defense Project. The Varick Removal Defense Project, a joint collaboration of the City Bar Justice Center, the Legal Aid Society and the NYC chapter of AILA, matches pro bono attorneys with immigrant detainees who are facing removal and cannot afford to hire an attorney. In 2011, pro bono attorneys, working with the City Bar Justice Center’s Varick Removal Defense Project, successfully represented 11 detained immigrants who were released after months of being in detention and reunited them with their families. These clients came from China, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ghana, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, and Ukraine.
Schnader attorneys including Cynthia G. Fischer, Seth E. Spitzer, Alizah Z. Diamond, and Carol Notias Kotsinis actively participate in the program.
