The annual Schnader Print Media Awards Competition was established more than 30 years ago by the Pennsylvania Bar Association to honor journalistic excellence in legal reporting. Underwritten by the Schnader firm and named after one of the Firm’s founding partners, William A. Schnader, the awards are designed to recognize journalists whose writing fosters greater public understanding of our legal system; informs and educates citizens as to the roles of society and the law, the courts, law enforcement agencies, and the legal profession; and discloses practices or procedures needing correction or improvement so as to encourage and promote efforts to improve and modernize our laws, courts or law enforcement agencies statewide. The awards are given out each year at the annual convention of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association.
The Schnader firm is proud to support the Schnader Print Media Awards and congratulates all of the 2011 award recipients. Independent journalism is a critical component to our American democracy, and the work done by each of the winners and by reporters across the Commonwealth each day is essential to supporting a public dialogue that allows the citizenry to be well educated, well informed and engaged regarding critical community and world issues.
