FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 22, 2008 – New York, NY: Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP is proud to welcome four new attorneys to the Firm’s New York City office: David E. Montgomery, Scott St. Marie, and Thomas F. Giordano, who were all previously with the law firm of Sacks Montgomery, PC, and Allison A. Snyder, who was previously of counsel with Lester Schwab Katz & Dwyer, LLP.  The Firm is also adding one paralegal and three staff members who were previously employed with Sacks Montgomery.  The Sacks Montgomery firm, which was a nine-lawyer firm specializing in construction and surety law and in general commercial litigation, practiced for 40 years with offices in New York City and Westport, Connecticut.  While the firm was highly successful, very much in demand, and very well-regarded in its areas of practice, its lawyers made the difficult decision to close the firm at the end of 2007, and to bring their clients and personnel to a larger firm setting with a greater array of services to offer their current clients.

“We are really pleased to welcome David, Scott, and Tom aboard,” said Schnader Chairman Ralph Wellington. “I think that their experience, talent, and skill are a tremendous addition to Schnader – particularly their background in construction and surety law, as well as general commercial litigation – and I think they will be a wonderful complement to our Firm’s litigation practice, particularly to our business litigation practice group.”

Mr. Wellington continued, “We are also very pleased to have Allison join us as a member of our Litigation Services Department.  Her background in products liability, premises liability, and labor law matters will be a wonderful addition to our existing efforts in those areas.”

These additions reflect Schnader’s ongoing effort to pursue strategic, targeted growth, building upon the Firm’s traditional strengths in complex litigation and commercial transactions. The addition of these new attorneys supports the Firm’s objectives in providing comprehensive services for its clients, and in adding key areas of expertise in each of its offices.

David E. Montgomery will be joining Schnader as senior counsel in the Litigation Services Department, and will be a member of the construction law group.  His career spans more than four decades, and his practice is primarily in the field of construction law.  He has tried scores of jury and non-jury trials, as well as  numerous arbitrations, involving multi-million dollar construction disputes, including four jury trials lasting more than 10 weeks, one of which resulted in the recovery for his client of $99 million, the 10th largest jury verdict in the country in 1997.  He received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University (A.B. cum laude, 1958) and his law degree from Harvard Law School (L.L.B. cum laude, 1961).   Before starting with Sacks Montgomery in 1967, Mr. Montgomery worked at Dewey, Ballentine, Bushby, Palmer & Wood (1961–63), and as assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York (1963–67).
