Schnader’s Aviation Group Again Nationally Ranked in Chambers USA and The Legal 500 USA

Chambers USA 2014 and The Legal 500 USA 2014 again have ranked both the Schnader Aviation Group and its senior attorneys as among the best in the U.S.

Chambers USA ranked Schnader among the top firms nationwide for its aviation litigation practice, noting that the group “acts on behalf of a series of global carriers and manufacturers in product liability and related insurance litigation surrounding the aviation industry, particularly in relation to accidents.” Chambers USA reported that clients’ remarks include, “Every time I give them an assignment they treat it like it’s the only one they have. I feel important and they give 110%” and “They apply the resources needed to handle the cases and are responsive.” Individually, Chambers USA recognized the practice group’s co-chair Jonathan M. Stern, describing him as a “‘trusted adviser’ to his clients. He has deep experience in representing manufacturers and insurers in defense of various claims, such as product defect and personal injury.” Chambers USA also noted Denny Shupe, former practice group chair, reporting that he “earns praise for his ability to grasp complex issues related to a range of aviation matters. He is described as ‘a real force’ with ‘a true understanding of the law.’ He has expertise in product liability claims arising from aircraft accidents.”

The Legal 500 ranked Schnader among the top firms nationwide for Product Liability and Mass Tort Defense: Aerospace/Aviation, noting “the ‘top-notch’ Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP is ‘particularly well versed in aviation-related product litigation and the regulatory environment in which aviation companies operate’ and ‘offers a depth of resources in the areas of appellate practice and complex commercial litigation.'” The Legal 500 editors commented on individual attorneys, including “‘superior trial lawyer’ Denny Shupe in Philadelphia” who is noted for his “outstanding technical knowledge” and recognized for his stellar work representing Rolls-Royce in a litigation matter. Editors remarked that Alison C. Finnegan is an “‘excellent legal analyst and writer’ and ‘a very effective litigator.'” Mr. Stern received praise as “a highly experienced aviation law attorney” who “brings a depth of knowledge to bear.” Ralph G. Wellington received kudos for being “a very experienced trial attorney,” noted for his “great, pragmatic approach to strategy and risk management.” The editors also commented on Ms. Finnegan and the “excellent San Francisco-based counsel Leo J. Murphy” for their representation of Esterline Corporation in a military-related litigation matter.
