Schnader’s Aviation Group Nationally Ranked by Legal 500 USA for Fifth Consecutive YearOn June 15, 2016 by Schnader in Aviation
Legal 500 USA placed Schnader’s Aviation Group “at the tip of the spear in aviation law knowledge and experience” in 2016, marking the fifth consecutive year of recognition by the influential publication. Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP is regarded by clients as a “go-to” defense firm, according to the report.
Legal 500 attributes much of the group’s ascension to its work defending clients in recent high-profile aviation disasters, calling the team a “value-plus” group with wide-ranging and vast technical and aeronautical experience.
The publication specifically identified Schnader attorneys Robert Williams, the Aviation Group Chair; Barry Alexander, Vice-chair, as well as William Janicki, Denny Shupe and Jonathan Stern. Stern is a pilot and air traffic controller, who defended Motorola in litigation stemming from AirAsia’s doomed Flight 8501 which crashed off Indonesia in 2014. Williams, an active pilot and Shupe, a former Air Force Command pilot, are lauded for their work as lead counsel for Rolls-Royce in litigation arising out of the crash of a U.S. Army Special Operations helicopter in Georgia. Janicki, another former Air Force pilot, has represented a number of clients in multidistrict, multi-jurisdictional and foreign litigation arising out of airline disasters. Alexander was recognized as having extensive expertise that includes insurance and cargo claims, and has represented more than 50 airlines, including U.S. Airways/American Airlines, Delta, Southwest and Lufthansa.
Now in its 10th year, the Legal 500 USA spotlights and ranks elite law firms by practice area. Its team of lawyers and journalists spend months each year conducting in-depth research drawing on feedback from law firms, clients and competitors to create its ranking. Its findings are relied upon by millions of buyers of legal services worldwide.
