Schnader’s Kevin Blanton Offers Comment on Philly AIDS Walk

On September 28, 2012 by Schnader in Finance

Kevin S. Blanton offered comment for the article “AIDS Walk Countdown Begins” which was published in the Philadelphia Gay News on September 28, 2012. The article detailed the upcoming Philly AIDS Walk, which will be held on October 21. This year, the organizers held a kick-off event on September 21 and have taken to social media to generate support for the walk with the Why I Walk campaign, which allows supporters to share their motivation for participating.

The kick-off and the campaign are meant to heighten awareness about those numbers, and the reasons why the walk is still integral, said Mr. Blanton, president of AIDS Fund Board of Directors. “We want to raise awareness of the epidemic. We want to be out here in the public. We want to show people where we’ve been, where we’ve come from and remind people that this is still a real problem for our community, for our nation and the world,” Mr. Blanton said. “We want to remind people that this is what we’re doing. We want to remind them about the walk and to get people to volunteer, to come out and raise money.”

AIDS Fund supports organizations in the Philadelphia Region that provide AIDS and HIV related services, education, and prevention programs, including programs that seek to increase public awareness of HIV/AIDS issues. AIDS Fund is the producer of AIDS Walk Philly, GayBINGO, and other fundraising and awareness programs throughout the year.
