Schnader’s Loscalzo and Smith Quoted in Philadelphia Business Journal Article on Legal Trends

Theresa Loscalzo, co-chair of the Firm’s Financial Services Litigation Practice Group, and David Smith, Schnader’s Chairman, were featured and quoted in an article titled “Lawyers See the Time is Ripe for Some Business Education,” which was published in the Philadelphia Business Journal on May 21. The article discussed how more law firms are encouraging their partners to obtain business development training and holding them accountable for their subsequent performance due (in part) to the recession reducing available revenues. Ms. Loscalzo was quoted as saying, “[s]ome of the things that are taught are so self-evident that you wonder whether you actually needed to take a course to learn it. But I did need to take a course. One idea was asking current clients for referrals or additional work. The results were almost immediately positive.” Ms. Loscalzo recommended the program to David Smith who said Schnader had success when sending specific individuals, but not when sending lawyers indiscriminately. “Those who were willing and able to learn did well,” said Mr. Smith.
