Suplee, Wellington Comment on Scooter Libby’s Lawyer
On October 24, 2005 by Schnader in LitigationRalph Wellington and Dennis Suplee commented on Joseph Tate in an October 24, 2005 article in the Philadelphia Daily News. The article discusses the appointment of Tate as the lawyer for I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney’s top aide and a central figure in the CIA leak investigation roiling the Bush White House. “Not being part of that clique gives him a freshness and perspective, so he devotes full attention to his client and does not have to defer to politics. He doesn’t have to scratch anybody’s political back,” said Ralph, chairman of the Firm and former law partner of Joseph’s, referring to Washington’s A-list of lawyers. “He’s a real fighter,” said Dennis, also a former colleague of Tate’s: “He’s not afraid to try a case if he thinks he has to.”
