September 18, 2007 – Philadelphia, PA – Twenty-four Schnader attorneys were selected for inclusion in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.

Arlin M. Adams (named for alternative dispute resolution and appellate law), was a U.S. Court of Appeals judge from 1969 to 1987. In 2001, Susquehanna University created the Arlin M. Adams Center for Law and Society to honor his achievements. The University of Pennsylvania Law School and the Annenberg Foundation established the Arlin M. Adams Professorship of Constitutional Law in his honor.

Elizabeth K. Ainslie (commercial litigation) was named one of “America’s Top 50 Women Litigators” by the National Law Journal. She is a former federal prosecutor for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and chief of its Fraud Section. She then worked for 15 years at a law firm she founded before she joined Schnader.

Thomas D. Arbogast (tax law) is a past chair of Schnader’s Taxation Practice Group and serves on our Executive Committee. He concentrates in commercial law and taxation, with emphasis on tax litigation; tax administrative practice; corporate acquisitions and divestitures; partnerships; domestic and international business taxation; and, real estate and natural resource development. He has lectured for entities including the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the American Law Institute, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Barry E. Bressler (bankruptcy and creditor/debtor rights law) chairs Schnader’s Creditors’ Rights Real Estate practice and focuses on real estate litigation, creditors’ rights issues and bankruptcy matters. He has represented lenders, landlords, developers, owners, contractors and subcontractors in commercial mortgage foreclosures, suits against guarantors, loan workouts, commercial lease, brokerage commission, land use, landlord-tenant disputes and construction litigation. He handles real estate lending and conduit lending transactions, and advises small businesses and professionals on corporate, real estate and related matters.

William H. Brown III (labor and employment law), senior counsel and member of the Labor and Employment Law Practices Group, is a former chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and was a deputy district attorney and chief of the district attorney’s Fraud Unit in Philadelphia. He has served as a mediator for the U.S. District Court for Eastern District of Pennsylvania and as an arbitrator for American Arbitration Association. He also chaired a special investigation commission investigating Philadelphia’s MOVE tragedy in 1985.

Robert L. Collings (environmental law) serves on our Executive Committee and formerly chaired the Litigation Department. His regulatory and litigation experience in environmental law and hazardous substance issues includes work as a former enforcement attorney and manager at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He represents manufacturing, transportation, financial services, retail and real estate businesses with permit needs, claims, and transactional matters involving environmental or regulatory issues. He is knowledgeable of federal, state and local regulatory programs and tries cases in state and federal courts and administrative tribunals.

Albert S. Dandridge III (corporate law) co-chairs Schnader’s Financial Services and Corporate Practice Groups. He concentrates in municipal and corporate finance matters, regularly counseling public companies, broker-dealers and investment advisors on their securities reporting and financing requirements. He also lectures frequently on securities topics. Before joining Schnader, Mr. Dandridge was associate director of small business and international corporate finance in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Corporation Finance and also served as special counsel there.

Marilyn Z. Kutler (real estate law) is a member of the Real Estate Practice Group and specializes in real estate transactions and government contracts, with emphasis on complex public-private partnerships, institutional projects, and projects involving governmental units and educational institutions. She is experienced in site development and land-use planning regarding projects requiring special attention or experience, such as sports and entertainment arenas, convention centers and energy facilities. Ms. Kutler previously served in the City of Philadelphia’s Law Department for more than 10 years, focusing on public-sector business and real estate matters. In 1984, she became was named city solicitor and was Philadelphia’s chief legal counsel on many commercial ventures with developers and mixed public-private funding.

Bruce P. Merenstein (appellate law), a member of Schnader’s Appellate Practice Group, focuses his practice on all aspects of appellate litigation. He has handled appeals in many federal courts of appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as numerous state appellate courts. He has extensive experience in briefing and arguing various pre-trial issues and post-trial matters. Most recently, he received a 2007 Burton Award for Legal Achievement, for co-authoring (with Schnader partner Carl A. Solano) “Interim Issues Requiring Appellate Review – Pennsylvania’s Collateral Order Doctrine: Lessons From the Barnes Foundation Case And The 30 Years of Jurisprudence Preceding It,” published in the October 2006 issue of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Quarterly.

James R. Meyer (intellectual property law) is a member of the Firm’s Corporate Practice Group and concentrates in selecting, acquiring, maintaining and defending trademarks, service marks, trade names, trade dress, Internet domain names and copyrights worldwide, including the related business and licensing transactions. His practice also includes the use and protection of intellectual property rights on the Internet. He is the executive editor of the INTA Bulletin and the editor-in-chief of REMARKS: Trademark News for Business, published by the International Trademark Association. Before joining us, he was trademark counsel for a multinational pharmaceutical company, and was responsible for more than 2,000 trademarks and 20,000 trademark registrations worldwide.

Albert Momjian (family law) chairs Schnader’s Family Law department. His practice consists of complex matrimonial matters, including: adoption; custody, divorce, premarital and postnuptial agreements; paternity matters; and, support issues. Known as a leader in the field, he’s consistently been at the forefront of developing areas of family law, including: surrogate parenting; spousal torts; constitutional issues; and, arbitration or mediation of family law disputes. He has been recognized nationally for his success and victories in high-profile matters. Mr. Momjian also has been an advisor and authority in development and drafting of many of the Pennsylvania’s family laws in Pennsylvania; he co-chaired the Committee to Consolidate Pennsylvania Family Laws and served as a consultant to the Pennsylvania House and Senate judiciary committees during extensive deliberations of the 1980 Divorce Code.

Mark A. Momjian (family law) has concentrated his practice exclusively on family law since 1986. His caseload encompasses all aspects of family law litigation and appellate advocacy. He is a frequent presenter and author on issues in family law. His public service work focuses on the unique challenges facing nontraditional families, work for which he has been honored frequently by public-interest and community groups and organizations.

Carolyn S. Nachmias (tax law) chairs the Firm’s Tax and Business Planning Practice Group. She concentrates her practice on advising clients on various federal, state and local tax issues regarding corporate, partnership and international transactions, as well as advising clients regarding individual income tax, estate planning, asset protection and family and divorce tax planning. She handles all facets of business planning, including tax-exempt organization planning and financing.

Kenneth I. Rosenberg (real estate law) chairs the Real Estate Practice Group. He represents banks, savings institutions and other financial institutions in residential, commercial and retail development projects. He has extensive experience in the area of real estate financing, particularly in construction lending throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He has represented banks in secured and unsecured real estate credit facilities, letters of credit financing, and tax-free real estate loans. He’s successfully concluded numerous workouts of troubled real estate loans.

Bruce A. Rosenfield (trusts and estates) chairs the Firm’s Trusts and Estates Department. His practice includes: estate planning; estate and trust administration; charitable giving; issues related to private foundations; and, planning for closely held businesses. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and counsel to the Settlement Music School.

Deena Jo Schneider (appellate law) focuses her practice in appellate and other issue-oriented litigation. Her work has encompassed many substantive areas, including administrative law, antitrust and trade regulation, civil rights and constitutional law, e-commerce and technology law, employment and employee benefits law, products liability, professional liability and securities regulation, as well as a wide variety of procedural issues and alternative dispute resolution. She also has a significant counseling and transactional practice, especially in the areas of trade regulation and e-commerce and technology law.

David Smith (commercial litigation) is the Firm’s first CEO and a member of its Executive Committee. An active member of the Firm’s Litigation Services Department, he has more than 29 years of experience in large and complex litigation, and has handled a variety of matters including representing plaintiffs and defendants in patent, trademark, trade secret and other intellectual property litigation; professional liability litigation involving claims of attorney and accountant malpractice; securities and antitrust litigation, including service as lead counsel in the defense of multidistrict cases; failed financial institution litigation; real estate workouts and litigation; construction litigation; and representation of debtors and creditors in creditors’ rights and bankruptcy litigation. He also leads in civic and community affairs, in many different roles, including chair of the Public Interest Law Center (1999-2002).

Carl A. Solano (appellate law and First Amendment law) is a member of the Firm’s Appellate Practice Group and chairs our First Amendment, Defamation and Communications Practice Group. His appellate and motions practice involves most fields of substantive law; his First Amendment practice focuses on advising and defending communications companies in libel and privacy matters in both trial and appellate courts. His e-commerce practice covers challenges and cutting-edge issues presented by the continually evolving area of the Internet, including litigation over domain name ownership and control, and counseling Internet publishers on content regulation. He’s also been an adjunct professor of law at the Villanova University School of Law and often lectures on computer and electronic commerce issues.

Dennis R. Suplee (commercial litigation) was the Firm’s Chairman from 1992 to 1998. He has handled a range of civil litigation including complex antitrust litigation; international air rights; the Americans with Disabilities Act and CERLA; patent infringement issues; product liability cases; and criminal defense. He’s highly regarded among his peers, and is recognized consistently for successful results he achieves for clients.

Paul H. Titus (commercial litigation) is a member of Schnader’s Litigation Services Department, handling a broad range of litigation in trial and appellate courts, especially complex business matters. This includes shareholder disputes, securities issues, contract disputes, governmental regulation and antitrust litigation. His trial work has resulted in his election to the American College of Trial Lawyers. He represents governmental entities as well as public and private institutions, including Fortune 100 companies, national and regional accounting Firms, law Firms, and directors, officers and partners of such organizations.

Stewart M. Weintraub (tax law) is a member of Schnader’s Business Services Department, where his practice focuses on taxation issues, including assisting clients to plan and structure transactions, as well as all aspects of state and local tax compliance. He formerly was chief of tax litigation for the City of Philadelphia’s Law Department and chief counsel of the mayor’s tax reform commission. He was honored by Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce in 1984 and 1989 for his contributions to tax reform in Philadelphia. In 2003, he was appointed to serve as a member of the newly refashioned Tax Reform Commission, part of an effort to make Philadelphia more competitive in attracting and retaining residents, businesses, jobs and commerce. He has been an adjunct professor at Temple University School of Law since 1981, and has been a noted speaker at many American Bar Association conferences.

Ralph G. Wellington (commercial litigation) is Chairman of the Firm, and has extensive experience representing major corporations in significant litigation and business matters throughout the United States. He is an active appellate advocate, having argued before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third, Sixth and Seventh circuits, as well as appellate courts in various states.

Saul Wilensky (personal injury litigation, product liability litigation) is a highly experienced trial lawyer in the product liability area. He was counsel in leading New York decisions involving the design, manufacture and repair of products, ranging from swimming pools, punch presses, automobiles, airplanes, ships and consumer appliances.

Nancy Winkelman (appellate law) co-chairs the Firm’s Appellate Practice Group, and concentrates her practice in federal and state appellate litigation. In 2004, Ms. Winkelman was selected as a fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, making her the ninth lawyer (and the first woman) to be selected as a fellow from the Third Circuit. She also co-chairs our Hiring Committee and Pro Bono Committee.
