Ralph Wellington commented in the January 27, 2006 Philadelphia Business Journal article “Who Are Law’s Next Leaders?” The article discusses the process of choosing succession leadership for current managing partners once they retire from the legal field. Ralph mentioned that leadership transitions are easier to complete when there is a consensus among the partners about the firm’s strategic direction. “It’s different at every firm because some still have those larger-than-life people running things,” he said. “But on a balance, I think you are seeing firms less dependent on one super-person and adopting a more corporate model where a few lawyers run the firm.”
