2018 PDLG Symposium: Diversity in the First Chair: Symposium on Women and Diverse Lawyers in the Courtroom and Boardroom

Dandridge, III, chair of the Firm’s Securities Practice Group and Chief Diversity Officer, is co-chairing the planning committee for the 2018 Symposium for the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group (PDLG), “Diversity in the First Chair: Symposium on Women and Diverse Lawyers in the Courtroom and Boardroom.” The Symposium is being held on November 16, 2018 at The Union League in Philadelphia.
This important event will involve discussion and promotion of strategies and best practices to empower women and diverse lawyers as lead trial counsel in litigation matters and lead counsel in corporate transactions. Featured as a special guest luncheon speaker is Hon. Shira Scheindlin, Retired District Judge, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.

A View from the Bench. Observations from Federal District Court Judges and Common Pleas Court Judges on the benefits of having women and diverse attorneys serve as first chair trial counsel and what can be done to increase the number of those opportunities. The moderator is Hon. Timothy Lewis, Retired Circuit Court Judge, United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit.
A View from In-House Counsel. Observations from the general counsels of several national corporations on positioning women and diverse attorneys as leaders on trial and transaction teams and promoting strategies to further increase women and diverse attorney participation in their matters. The moderator is Kenji Yoshino, NYU Law School.
A View from Male Attorney Mentors and Women and Diverse Mentees. Tips and strategies from prominent male mentors and their equally prominent female mentees about allocating lead trial counsel and lead corporate counsel opportunities to women and diverse attorneys. The moderator is Patricia Santelle, Managing Partner, White and Williams LLP.
