Stephen Shapiro and Brandy Ringer presented the webinar, “Are You in the Right Court? Recent Developments in Personal Jurisdiction and Pre-Service Removals” on September 16, 2020.

The course addressed the current state of the law regarding personal jurisdiction (both general and specific) and removing an action to federal court pre-service.  Topics included: the effect of registering to do business on general jurisdiction; how the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Daimler AG v. Bauman and its progeny affect general jurisdiction; pre-service removals from state court by defendants subject to general personal jurisdiction; and how the U.S. Supreme Court’s upcoming decision in Ford Motor Co. v. Montana Eighth Judicial District Court and Ford Motor Co. v. Bandemer could change the landscape of specific jurisdiction.
