CLE Session: 14th Annual Real Estate Institute

On December 2, 2010 by Schnader

Marilyn Kutler, a partner in Schnader’s Philadelphia office, was a course planner for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s 14th Annual Real Estate Institute, which was held December 2 – 3, 2010 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Ms. Kutler has served as a course planner for this extremely popular session for the past eight years.

Held annually, PBI’s Real Estate Institute is widely recognized as the leading continuing legal education program available to real-estate lawyers practicing in Pennsylvania. In 2009, more than 400 attorneys from across the state attended the event, which offers comprehensive updates on a wide variety of real estate topics and provides practical insights for the real world practitioner.

The event continued to focus on the challenges facing the real estate market as a result of the on-going housing and mortgage crisis, as well as the recession that continues to affect the nation’s economy. More than 45 different workshops were offered that gave details on changes in real estate law and provided insight on how to address various challenges facing the modern practitioner. In addition to addressing more common real estate topics, such as the residential landlord tenant eviction process, the 2-day conference offered sessions on more timely topics, such as the environmental and land use issues related to drilling for Marcellus Shale. The keynote address, “Real Estate Capital Trends: Making Plans Now for the Future,” was presented by Robert Fahey, and Executive Vice President with the Investment Properties – Institutional Group of CB Richard Ellis, Inc.
