Diversity in the Appellate BarOn July 9, 2021 by Schnader
Timothy K. Lewis spoke about “Diversity in the Appellate Bar,” in a webinar on July 14, 2021 for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). Judge Lewis is co-chair of Schnader’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group and served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Our highest courts decide issues that impact our everyday lives, yet there is very little diversity amongst the appellate attorneys and judges who handle these cases. The July 14 webinar discussed the work of The Appellate Project, an exciting new initiative working to change that. The panelists discussed TAP’s efforts and their own experiences as appellate clerks, lawyers, and judges, including what law firms and in-house counsel can do to improve diversity in this important area of practice. Judge Lewis serves on the Advisory Board for The Appellate Project.
