Endorsements and NIL: Challenges Now Facing Universities, Athletes, and Businesses

Schnader attorneys presented three timely CLE webinars about the legal framework under which college athletes may now earn compensation for product/service endorsements involving the use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL). These CLE programs presented practical insights and factors to be considered when navigating the issues related to athletes’ newly secured rights of publicity. The programs provided considerations for universities, athletes, and businesses, and helped to anticipate future developments.

On January 24, 2022, Karen Baillie and Monica P. Matias participated in a CLE panel for the Allegheny County Bar Association, “Name, Image and Likeness in College Athletics.”

On January 27, 2022, W. Drew Kastner and Stephenie W. Yeung appeared in a CLE program for Strafford, “Structuring Student-Athlete NIL Agreements: Recent Decisions, Regulations, and Key Provisions.”

On February 24, 2022, Karen Baillie, W. Drew Kastner, Theresa E. Loscalzo, Monica P. Matias, Matthew S. Tamasco, and Stephenie W. Yeung presented a CLE webinar for Lawline, “Endorsements and NIL: Challenges Now Facing Universities, Athletes, and Businesses.”
