Hon. Timothy K. Lewis Spoke at National Constitution Center about Supreme Court Nomination Controversy

On May 26, 2016 by Schnader

On Thursday, May 26th, Hon. Timothy K. Lewis was part of a moderated conversation entitled “The Next Supreme Court Confirmation Battle” at the National Constitution Center.  He was joined by law professors Josh Blackman of the South Texas College of Law, National Constitution Center Scholar-in-Residence Michael Gerhardt, and David Strauss of the University of Chicago Law School to assess the Supreme Court confirmation process and the debate over President Obama’s nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to the high court. Jeffrey Rosen, Center president and CEO, moderated.

On March 16, 2016, President Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland, Chief Justice of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, to fill the Supreme Court seat vacated by the death of Antonin Scalia. Senate Republicans have refused to consider his nomination, saying the vacancy should be filled after the Presidential election.
