Introduction to the American Legal SystemOn March 15, 2007 by Schnader
On March 15, 2007 Schnader Chairman Ralph Wellington presented “Introduction to the American Legal System” at the Legal Issues in Museum Administration 35th Annual Course of Study/Audio Webcast co-presented by the American Law Institute and the American Bar Association. The webcast was held from March 14-16, 2007 at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and co-sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution with the cooperation of the American Association of Museums. This annual program provides museum directors, administrators, trustees, legal counsel, and others who are concerned with museum operations with awareness of the legal issues and problems that they may encounter in their work. Special emphasis this year was given to the legal issues and best practices in collecting and exhibiting antiquities, changing museums’ legal structure and operating within a parent organization, and expanding museums’ virtual presence through pods or blogs.
