Keith Whitson and Nancy Winkelman Participated in DRI Appellate Advocacy Seminar

Partner Keith E. Whitson served as program chair for DRI’s 2017 Appellate Advocacy program, that took place in New Orleans from May 11-12.

Partner Nancy Winkelman participated in a mock argument, Microsoft Corporation v. Baker, et al., as an advocate. The argument was held in the Ceremonial Courtroom of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, and also featured practitioners’ thoughts and theories about the case, as well as a case conference. At issue in the case is whether a federal court of appeals has jurisdiction to review an order denying class certification after the named plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed their claims. The case was argued before the United States Supreme Court in March, and a decision is pending.
