Pedro Ramos Discussed “The Intersection of Title VI, Title IX, the First Amendment and Academic Freedom “

Pedro Ramos, co-chair of the firm’s Higher Education Practice Group, was a panelist exploring “The Intersection of Title VI, Title IX, the First Amendment and Academic Freedom” at the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) 2015 Annual Conference. The panel took place the first day of the conference, Sunday, June 28, 2015, with the conference running until noon on July 1, 2015. Discussion was centered around academic freedom, and the roles of Title VI, Title IX, and the First Amendment. Topics included faculty and student civility; harassment and academic freedom; what academic freedom is beyond the classroom; and religious objections to assignments or requirements.
