EVENT DATE: March 24, 2021

Ralph G. Wellington lead a virtual CLE program on March 24, 2021, about “Practical Approaches to Ensure the Neutrality of Party-Appointed Arbitrators,” for the Section of Dispute Resolution of the American Bar Association.

The March 24 program also featured Hon. Timothy K. Lewis, who serves with Wellington as co-chair of Schnader’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group.

Is a party-appointed arbitrator ever completely neutral – or expected to be? The delicate balance in the party-appointed setting between expectations and ethical obligations can be challenging. Such issues can affect each dispute and arbitration practice overall. This program discussed practical approaches to dealing with these difficult issues, whether appointing or serving as a neutral.
