Carl Schaerf presented “Regulatory and Licensing Schemes with Cranes” at the Defense Research Institute’s (DRI) Product Liability Conference, held April 15-17, 2009 in San Diego, California. Carl’s presentation took place during the Scaffolding Cranes and Aerial Devices Subcommittee breakout session on April 16.

Carl discussed topics such as standards for cranes that are out-of-date and inconsistent with current technology, the need for a new Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standard, licensing requirements in various states and cities, and the response to the collapse of a crane in Miami-Dade County, Florida in 2008.
