Schnader’s Coleman Offers Seminar on Bankruptcy Topics

Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP’s Kevin Coleman was a speaker along with Andrea Porter of Friedman Dumas & Springwater LLP at an event sponsored by the Bar Association of San Francisco titled “Trouble Has Arrived: What Business Lawyers Need to Know About Insolvency Law During an Economic Downturn.” The event, held on November 18, offered an overview of the bankruptcy process, as well as insights and advice for entities doing business with a company in bankruptcy, the impact of bankruptcy on long term contracts, leases and license agreements, best practices to avoid so-called “preference claims”, and recommendations for individuals who are Officers and/or Directors of an insolvent business.

Mr. Coleman is chair of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section, and a partner in Schnader’s Bankruptcy, Workout and Business Reorganization Practice Group. His practice focuses on business restructurings, particularly those concerning technology and telecommunications companies. Mr. Coleman represents debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, and parties to significant ongoing contracts in cases under Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code.
