Brittany C. Wakim and Lee C. Schmeer presented the webinar, “The Jetsons Predicted the Flying Car by 2062 – Are We Close? (Brief Answer – Yes!): An Update in Automation and Future Aviation Claims / Litigation Concerns” on March 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.

This course addressed recent developments in the regulatory and legal landscape of Unmanned Aerial Systems and the impact on operators and insurers of UAS. We also looked ahead to the promise – and potential legal problems and logistical hurdles – inherent in electronic vertical take-off and landing vehicles. We ended on the recent developments in another area impacting airline safety: new service animal regulations established by the Department of Transportation in response to on-board safety concerns for both crew and passengers. The course focused on potential pitfalls for operators and their insurers, as well as tips to avoid such losses, and presented an organized, macro-view of the handling of insurance claims/lawsuits in these areas.
