The Honorable Timothy K. Lewis and Dr. Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, were the keynote speakers at the Annual Meeting celebrating the 30th anniversary of the National Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution on June 15th and 16th in Greenbelt, Maryland.
Judge Lewis’ speech, titled, “It’s In Our Hands,” called for a new paradigm in our national dialogue. Drawing on imagery from literature, history and music, he offered antidotes to the “language of division.” These include Toni Morrison’s Nobel Laureate lecture, “The Bird Is in Your Hands” and Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth.
