Nancy Winkelman to Serve One Year in Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office

Nancy Winkelman, Partner at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, is taking leave from the Firm for a year to serve as the Interim Supervisor, Law Department, of the Philadelphia Office of the District Attorney. Nancy has spent her thirty-year career at Schnader, concentrating her practice in federal and state appellate litigation. In past years, she has co-chaired Schnader's Litigation Services Department and its Appellate Practice Group, and has served as its long-term Hiring Partner.

Nancy said, “I look forward to assisting District Attorney Larry Krasner in the development of a new model of prosecution, one consistent with public safety and adherence to basic constitutional principles of equal justice and due process of law.”

“Serving the ‘higher calling of the law’ is an integral part of the fabric of the Firm,” said Nicholas J. LePore, III, Firm Managing Partner. “Nancy is not just a talented and nationally recognized appellate lawyer, she also is deeply committed to social justice. Although we will miss her for this year, we are delighted that she has the opportunity to serve the City in this role.”

Bruce P. Merenstein, Chair of Schnader’s Appellate Practice Group, expressed admiration for Nancy’s desire to serve the public, saying “The Appellate Practice Group wishes Nancy well in her new civic leadership role and looks forward to her return to the Firm.”
