“A Holiday Gift for Appellate Procedure Wonks”

On January 5, 2010 by Schnader

Bruce Merenstein authored a post for The Legal Intelligencer Blog published on January 5 examining the first four opinions issued by the United States Supreme Court in cases argued this term: Alvarez v. Smith, Beard v. Kindler, Mohawk Industries Inc. v. Carpenter, and Union Pacific Railroad Co. v. Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen General Committee of Adjustment.  Mr. Merenstein noted that the cases covered important issues related to appellate practice – including the principles of mootness, waiver and jurisdiction – that practitioners would find interesting and which could prove to be quite significant.
