“‘Outrage’ Needed for Civil Gideon Success”

On August 1, 2010 by Schnader

Albert Dandridge, chair of the Firm’s Securities Practice Group, authored “‘Outrage’ Needed for Civil Gideon Success,” which was published in the August 2010 edition of the Philadelphia Bar Reporter.

The article highlighted the recent Chancellor’s Forum on Civil Gideon held on July 7 at the Bar Association’s Conference Center, featuring Professor Russell Engler from New England Law | Boston, an acknowledged authority in the area of Civil Gideon.  Civil Gideon is a national movement attempting to provide legal counsel as a matter of right at public expense to low-income persons in adversarial civil matters where basic human needs are at stake.

The article also highlighted what the Bar Association’s Civil Gideon Task Force, which was established in 2009 by Immediate-Past Chancellor Sayde J. Ladov, is doing to advance the principles and goals discussed by Professor Engler.  Mr. Dandridge is a member of the Bar’s Civil Gideon Task Force.
