Partner Nancy Winkelman authored “Top 10 Dos and Don’ts of Appellate Brief Writing” for the September edition of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Federal Practice and Procedure Section Newsletter. In the article, Ms. Winkelman draws upon her 25 years of appellate experience to set out the most important things to do–and to avoid–when writing appellate briefs. From figuring out the correct approach to crafting an accurate legal perspective to truly finalizing it,  the article touches on ways to successfully manage brief writing. Conversely, Ms. Winkelman acknowledges the “don’ts,” including using previous briefs as a starting point, assuming what your audience knows, and using too much emotion.
