“What is the Employee Free Choice Act?”
On February 1, 2009 by SchnaderMichael Wietrzychowski and James Costello, II co-authored “What is the Employee Free Choice Act?” The article was published in February 2009 issue of The Communicator, the monthly newsletter of the Burlington County (NJ) Chamber of Commerce.
The article discusses the proposed amendments to the National Labor Relations Act, known as the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). The amendments are one of the first items scheduled for action on the federal legislative agenda. If enacted in its current form, the EFCA will significantly alter the landscape of national labor law by changing the way that employees choose whether or not to accept a union as their bargaining representative. It would also significantly change the way first labor contracts are negotiated and mediated.
